Six Kingdoms of Life

Remember the 3 domains of life we discussed? If you need a quick refresher, click here.

These 3 domains are further subdivided into one of six kingdoms of life.

These are:

  • Archaebacteria
  • Eubacteria
  • Protista
  • Fungi
  • Plantae
  • Animalia

Archaebacteria:

Archaebacteria are single-celled prokaryotes (no nucleus) from the Archaea domain – they can survive extreme conditions like hot springs and hydrothermal vents. Methanogens, halophiles, thermophiles, and psychrophiles are examples of archaeabacteria.

Eubacteria:

You remember these guys from the domains post also, right?

  • True bacteria
  • Single-celled organisms
  • No nucleus
  •  Everywhere around us, including on our skin and in our guts.  There are millions of bacterial cells in a handful of soil or a few drops of water.

Protista

Fungi

Plantae

Animalia
